HF-10L Hopper Type Moulder Feeder

Videos

Machine Information

Designed for end-to-end feeding of strips into the moulding machine. Will accommodate material from 1′ to 10′ long, 3/8” ‑3 ½” thick and from ¾” –12” wide at moulder feed speeds up to 150 ft/min.

Feedworks

The HF consists of two inter-related feed elements: 1) a hopper and 2) a pinch roller.

The hopper segment consists of a 7′ long x 12″ wide powered conveyor belt. When the system is turned on, the belt pulls the bottom piece from the hopper stack and feeds it toward the moulder where it is engaged by the pinch roller.

The pinch roller assembly consists of a lower driven polished steel roller and an upper 2″ wide urethane idler roller which is pneumatically actuated by a photo-eye sensor. The pinch roller is designed to keep the workpiece under pressure until it is gripped by the moulder, or, in the case of a workpiece that is shorter than the moulder infeed table, to push it into the moulder using the next piece from the hopper.

A 1hp Sumitomo cycloidal gear motor provides the power for the drive system. It is controlled by an AC Tech inverter drive which controls the feed parameters and provides for variable speeds which are easily adjusted via a knob on the control panel.

The robust frame of the HF is built from 3″ x 5″ steel tubing for stability and vibration dampening. Easily adjustable side rails and guide fences on the frame accommodates different width materials and allows them to quickly and easily loaded. An adjustable feed gate separates the conveyor section from the pinch roller and ensures that only one workpiece at a time is fed.

An adjustable back fence allows for rapid and precise alignment with the moulder fence.

To facilitate the feeding of shorter material, three lower driven steel rollers after the pinch roller and before the moulder infeed table coupled with upper pressure rollers pinch the workpiece and keep it moving.
